The City of Baton Rouge, Parish of East Baton Rouge recently contracted with an online government auction site, municibid.com
to auction surplus and police seized items.
Use of on-line auction provides for greater benefits and cost savings to the City and taxpayers. This allows greater exposure of surplus items to a broader audience.
Municibid through an RFP was chosen because it is designed for local and state government entities to increase non-tax revenue by enabling the City to more effectively sell surplus items by using Municibid’s online government auction platfor
The first round of auction is scheduled to begin on April 20, 2012 and end on
May 4, 2012. Items up for auction include cars, trucks, heavy equipment, lawn equipment and computer equipment. Bidding is open to the public.
A link on the Purchasing Department website at br.municibid.com will bring interested bidders straight to the auction site.
Each department/agency will provide Inventory Control with listings of surplus equipment and furniture. Inventory Control will schedule items for pick-up. No property will be received or transferred from the Surplus storage facility three weeks prior to the Auction. This action is necessary for Auction preparation.
