On May 12, 2014, the Water Quality Enhancement Committee hosted the Building Green Cities Baton Rouge Workshop to discuss water management issues in East Baton Rouge Parish. The daylong workshop highlighted the goals and action items of the City-Parish comprehensive plan, FUTUREBR, as it relates to watersheds, wetlands, surface water and water quality. The morning sessions were held at the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens at the Ione Burden Conference Center. The afternoon sessions consisted of visiting Episcopal Middle School and BREC Forest Community Park to observe the design and use of raingarden and bioswale implementations.

At the conclusion of the workshop, several stakeholder groups were formed with participants discussing opportunities to address goals and action items of FUTUREBR.
