VOA Brownlee Transitional Housing Program

The Brownlee Transitional Housing Program is an eighteen month transitional housing program designed to give homeless families an opportunity to acquire the necessary skills in maintaining permanent housing. Brownlee Transitional Housing offers 10 apartment units with on-site mentors. The population served is single and two-parent families who are presently homeless and/or income is below $597 per month. SHP funds provide assistance with supportive services and basic operations expenses, which include child care, transportation, utilities, repairs, equipment, supplies and rental insurance. Grant funds awarded under the 1997 SHP have been expended, however, the project received a three year renewal funding under the 2000 SHP for the continued delivery of services and is currently operating.
