Volunteers of America, GBR: Shiloh Ministries

Shiloh Coordinating Ministries is operated under the Volunteers of America of Greater Baton Rouge Foundation in cooperation with Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. This is a transitional housing program with on-site supervision and case management services to assist homeless males 18 years of age and older, which are disabled, unemployed or underemployed in hope to regain independency and self-sufficiency. Funding from the Supportive Housing Program allows these individuals supportive services and housing. Shiloh’s purpose is to promote job skills and placement through daily training as participants transition to independent living. SHP enables the Shiloh facility to offer 3 to 6 months of free housing assistance (rent), mentoring services and employment assistance in compliance with saving 50% of their earned income and a 10 p.m. curfew. Grant funds were awarded under the 2001 SHP. The project is ongoing.
