The Mental Health Association in Louisiana – Louisiana H.I.R.E.

Louisiana H.I.R.E. (Helping Individuals Regain Employment) is a project under the Supportive Housing Program designed to provide vocational rehabilitation integrated with mental health treatment to persons who are homeless and mentally ill or dually diagnosed. It provides an on-going direct support to consumers, which consists of 25 homeless and mentally ill individuals that are 18 years of age or older, to obtain and maintain employment and long-term housing. SHP funds are utilized in the assistance with salaries for the delivery of case management and job placement, client education, employment, transportation and supplies. This project received a three year funding under the 2000 SHP, and continues to render its services.
