|Under the direction of an employee of a higher classification, performs responsible administrative work in the maintenance and updating of the parish-wide Master Street Address Guide (MSAG) database. Work also involves responsibility for updating and maintaining the City-Parish 9-1-1 telephone system and the Community Notification System (CAL). Performs other work as requested. |
|ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS|
|Maintains the parish-wide Master Street Address Guide (MSAG) database and other databases as needed.
Updates internal personnel information in the Community Notification System (CAL).
Performs statistical analysis of database information and makes recommendations for improvement.
Processes 9-1-1 inquiry forms; determines the validity of changes to be referred to the telephone service provider.
Works directly with wireline, wireless phone providers, and City-Parish agencies to ensure necessary telephone service and features are provided.
Processes requests for the replacement of telephone equipment in the Emergency Communications Center.
Makes recommendations for policy and procedure changes based on the Commission of Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) standards.|
|KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES|
|Knowledge and understanding of the Commission of Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) accreditation and re-accreditation processes, including other accreditation networks.
Knowledge of Computer Aided Dispatch systems as they relate to mapping and data maintenance.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software.
Knowledge of network operations and probable cause of malfunctions.
Knowledge of databases and database software.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to apply good work habits such as punctuality, reliability, preciseness, and dependability in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the department and division.|
|EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE|
|High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or equivalent certificate of competency, supplemented by completion of a vocational technical school in electronics or networking, and two years of experience in the troubleshooting and support of network equipment, personal computers, printers, and peripheral devices.|
|Any equivalent combination of education and experience.|
