The purpose of the Fire Prevention Committee is to educate and inform through education and prevention and to provide an on-going
Fire Safety and Fire Prevention Education Program to target senior citizens and children.
Fire Prevention Committee is a non-profit 501 tax exempt community support organization that educates the public in prevention of fires and fire safety.
Purpose of the Fire Prevention Committee
The Baton Rouge Fire Prevention Committee is comprised of local citizens and businesses that dedicate their time
and funding to support the Baton Rouge Fire Department.
The committee educates the general public in fire prevention, and fire safety
techniques. We honor and recognize our firefighters, citizens and businesses/organizations
that make outstanding contributions in promoting fire safety.
Our goal is to provide the necessary educational tools/materials needed to educate the public. We focus on educating children and the
elderly in fire prevention and safety techniques to help reduce the loss of life within these particular age groups.
Donations for our organization are needed and accepted. With your ongoing support we will keep fire prevention and safety through this program.
The Bowl-A-Thon will be held

The banquet is held during the 1st week in October in honor of National Fire Prevention Week at The Embassy Suites.
Each year the banquet is held to honor the firefighters that have made exceptional contributions in serving the citizens of Baton Rouge. Awards will also be presented to the winners of the Poster Contest, Citizen Award,
and/or Business Award on this evening.
Annual Poster Contest
The Fire Prevention Committee is comprised of citizens throughout the City of Baton Rouge and is a support organization of the Baton Rouge Fire Department. Their goal is to educate the general public in fire prevention and fire
safety techniques, and to honor and recognize those members of the Baton Rouge Fire Department who have made an outstanding contribution in serving the citizens of Baton Rouge. Additionally, this committee sponsors a poster
contest each year during National Fire Prevention Week.
We would like to ask that you to take a few minutes to consider having your students grades K-5 to participate in this year’s poster contest.
Each school that participates in the contest needs to select a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner from each grade that participates. Your school then submits to the Fire Prevention Committee the 1st place winners only. These
posters are combined with other school’s 1st place winners for final judging by the committee. The committee picks a winner from each grade level for a total of six winners. These six overall winners are invited to the
Annual Fire Prevention Banquet.
