Organization Overview

The East Baton Rouge Parish Emergency Medical Service is a municipal service that originated on August 6, 1982. Baton Rouge EMS is the primary ACLS provider for the parish of East Baton Rouge. EMS is funded by a property tax and by insurance billing.

13 units operate during a 24-hour period
2 units are up for 12-hours during peak hours
12 physical stations throughout the parish
Supervisor sprint vehicles, also available

*all of the above are divided into six (6) twelve-hour shifts with an average of twenty-six (26) paramedics per shift throughout the coverage area providing a response time of (8) minutes or less.

This year's EMS Annual Operating Budget is $14,000,000.00.
