The Office of the Coroner of East Baton Rouge Parish serves the public 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is charged with determining the manner and cause of death for those cases that fall within its jurisdiction, including homicide, suicide and accidental, unusual or suspicious deaths. The Coroner's Office orders appropriate autopsies and issues death certificates. It evaluates the mentally ill and the chemically dependent and makes appropriate choices, as needed on evaluations of persons in need of services. The mission of the Coroner's Office of East Baton Rouge Parish is to serve the people in an efficient, professional and compassionate manner.

We strive to improve and upgrade our capabilities to serve this parish. Some of the accomplishments and ongoing projects include Outreach Programs, Emergency Preparedness activities, professional certifications and the development of a forensic facility.
