The Community Services
Division (CSD) represents the Baton Rouge City Constable's Office
(BRCCO) in a variety of
projects benefiting the community. Through the Community Services
Center (CSC) at the Mall at
Cortana, our outreach has been greatly extended.
During the months of July,
August, and September, the BRCCO participated in over 16 safety
seminars sponsored by the YMCA
of Greater Baton Rouge. The course is designed to help
educate the public,
especially women, on how to stay safe.
BRCCO co-hosted monthly
Domestic Violence in the Workplace "Lunch and Learns," which
were held at the CSC. The
classes are a project of the State Attorney General Richard P.
Ieyoub's office.
Our Scouting Program is
starting to take off! Deputies Carla Reed and Byron Richards are the
Cub Scout Pack 552 Leaders.
Deputies Marcus Politz and Stephen Callender lead the Boy Scout
Troop 552. Deputy Vernon
Scott has been appointed coordinator of the Explorers Post 552 and
has received offers of
assistance from several other deputies. Anyone interested in signing up kids
with the any of the
above programs can contact the CSD at 928-4808 for further information.
Special thanks to the Law
Firm of McGlynn, Glisson & Koch! Their generous donation has provided the BRCCO
with a set of seven new CPR manikins. This will help in the continued training
of our employees as well as the public. Cpl. Kim Green is a certified CPR
instructor and will be giving classes in the near future. Cpl. Green was
presented the manikins by attorneys
Daniel J. McGlynn, Christopher
D. Glisson and Karl J. Koch.
A special thanks also goes
out to Line-X of Baton Rouge for the donation of a spray-on bed liner
for the BRCCO Community
Services truck. Stop by to see it.....
it looks fantastic!
BRCCO has partnered with the
U.S. Attorney's Office to present Project Safe Neighborhoods in our community.
This is a gun safety presentation given to area youths. During the months of
July and August, over
600 area children viewed the demonstration. Project Safe Neighborhoods is a
federal program which
is an expansion of Project Exile.
