Hamilton joined the Baton Rouge Police Department in 1995 and has served the department in Uniform Patrol, Criminal Division, Administration, SWAT Team, as well as Legislative Liaison and most recently served as Chief of Staff. In 2014, he was appointed Deputy Chief, the second highest rank of the police department. His primary duty and responsibility is assisting the Chief of Police in the management and administration of the overall functions and operations of the police department.
He holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Management and a Masters Degree in Public Administration, and is also a member of the adjunct faculty with Loyola University New Orleans where he has taught since 2007. Hamilton often speaks at local council meetings and community gatherings on behalf of law enforcement efforts and strengthening relationships between the public, private and non-profit organizations in our region.
Deputy Chief Hamilton is married to Amanda Hamilton and is the proud father of three children.
