In the mid-1990s, AIDS was the leading cause of death among Americans between the ages of 25 and 44 with the average life expectancy of someone infected with AIDS was 18 months to 24 months.
Today, men or women diagnosed with the disease have essentially the same life expectancy as anyone else of the same age, sex and race. The development of new drugs has given those infected with HIV/AIDS a much improved chance
of survival. |
