|Under the direction of the Inventory and Supply Manager, performs responsible administrative and supervisory work assisting in planning and coordinating the activities of the Department of Public Works Warehouse. Work involves planning, ordering, and storage of inventory through the interpretation of computer inventory reports, and regular communication with Warehouse employees. Work is reviewed through inspections, reports and conferences. Performs other work as requested.|
|ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS|
|Assists in planning and coordinating the operation of the Department of Public Works Warehouse.
Analyzes and evaluates various computerized inventory management reports to ensure proper turnover of stock, correct recording of issues and receipts, minimum stock loss, etc.
Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
Assists with the ordering, stocking, and storage of inventory for emergencies, special projects and special events.
Assists in preparing the budget for the Warehouse.
Confers with City-Parish agencies, departments, and/or division to plan inventory requisition and storage.
Trains and instructs employees in job duties, and policies and procedures of the Warehouse.
Maintains personnel records, prepares payroll, coordinates vacations, and other interacting personnel matters.
Performs the duties of the Inventory and Supply Manager in his/her absence.
|KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES|
|Knowledge of inventory control principles, practices, and procedures.
Knowledge of periodic and perpetual inventory procedures
Knowledge of accounting principles involving a revolving fund accounting system.
Knowledge of computerized inventory procedures.
Ability to supervise, plan and coordinate the staff and operations of the Public Works Warehouse.
Ability to analyze computerized inventory reports and apply the data to warehouse operations.
Ability to design and implement an effective inventory program.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, superiors, and agency, department and/or division heads.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
Ability to apply good work habits such as punctuality, reliability, preciseness, and dependability in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the department and division.
|EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE|
|High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or equivalent certificate of competency, and three years of responsible industrial supply warehousing experience, including one year of supervisory experience.|
|Any equivalent combination of education and experience.|
