|Under the direction of a higher classification, performs responsible work in the operation of server hardware, software, and peripheral equipment utilized by various City-Parish departments. Work involves monitoring and maintenance of server hardware and software, running batch processes, and printing reports. An employee in this class may be required to work shift work and is subject to unusual working hours, as well as twenty-four hour call for situations needing immediate attention. Performs other work as requested.|
|ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS|
|Monitors server hardware, software, and peripheral equipment to ensure proper functionality; reviews all work for errors.
Performs backup of servers to tape or disk.
Runs all batch reports for City-Parish agencies; separates all printed work and attaches to respective job control.
Receives and tracks trouble calls involving server hardware and software; troubleshoots and attempts to correct moderate problems that develop; calls for assistance as necessary to correct the problem.
Performs daily maintenance and minor repairs on server hardware and peripheral equipment.
Documents system procedures for use by other personnel.
Shreds paper as needed.

|Knowledge of the operation of server hardware, software, and peripheral equipment.
Knowledge of personal computer hardware and software, including word processing and email.
Ability to perform routine to moderately complex operations on server hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, and to make minor adjustments to the machines.

|EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE|
|High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or equivalent certificate of competency, and two years of experience in computer operations.|
|Any equivalent combination of education and experience.|
