|Under the general direction of a higher classification, performs specialized work in the operation of the City-Parish parking garages. Work involves responsibility for balancing parking fees collected with receipts; maintaining simple bookkeeping records of daily transactions; and issuing parking vouchers and collecting parking fees. Employees of this class are subject to unusual working hours, including working weekends and nights. Performs other work as requested.|
|ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS|
|Balances parking fees charged with monies collected; reviews parking fees for accuracy.
Prepares daily reports of monies collected and overage or shortage; prepares forms for bank deposits of monies.
Receives complaints and explains City-Parish parking garage policies; prepares forms on accidents and thefts reportedly occurring at parking garage.
Collects parking fees and makes change or verifies valid prepaid parking garage pass.
Issues parking vouchers to vehicles entering City-Parish parking garages; determines parking charges based on time vehicle remained in parking garage.
Counts vehicles in parking garage to ensure accuracy of parking receipts.
Trains Parking Garage Attendants I in assigned duties.
|KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES|
|Knowledge of mathematical procedures used to count money and make change and to total and balance amounts of money.
Knowledge of clerical record keeping procedures involved in collecting monies and issuing receipts.
Skill in the operation of calculators.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
Ability to apply good work habits such as punctuality, reliability, preciseness, and dependability in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the department and division.
|EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE|
|High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or equivalent certificate of competency, and one year of experience in a position involving receipt of monies from the general public.|
|Any equivalent combination of education and experience.|
