Parking Garage Supervisor

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction of the Assistant Parking Garage Manager, performs supervisory work assisting in directing the activities of the City-Parish Parking Garage. Work involves scheduling, training and supervising employees in the daily activities of the Parking Garage. Employees of this classification are subject to unusual working hours, including weekends and nights. Supervision is exercised over Parking Garage Attendants I and II. Performs other work as requested.
 
ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS
Supervises, trains and schedules a staff engaged in issuing parking vouchers, collecting parking fees and reconciling monies collected with parking receipts; deposits daily revenues. Maintains parking event reports for all River Center events and other downtown activities requiring public parking. Investigates damages and theft allegedly occurring to vehicles at the City-Parish Parking Garages. Receives complaints from public regarding City-Parish Parking Garages operations; explains policies and mediates resolutions where possible. Prepares and balances daily shift reports; investigates overages and shortages of daily revenues collected. Sells parking event tickets; runs cash registers.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the operations of public parking garages. Knowledge of record keeping involved in collecting monies and issuing receipts. Knowledge of modern management, principles and practices. Ability to organize and supervise the work of subordinate employees. Ability to deal with the public with tact and courtesy. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to apply good work habits such as punctuality, reliability, preciseness, and dependability in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the department and division.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate of competency, and two years experience involving both public contact and bookkeeping, fiscal record keeping or accounting duties, including six months supervisory experience.
 
SUBSTITUTIONS
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
