CCS – Families First is a transitional housing program founded
in 1991 for homeless, two-parent families. The length of stay is normally up to
6 months. It is designed to promote self-sufficiency among low income families
who are presently homeless. This shelter, funded by the Emergency Shelter Grants
Program, enables homeless families in crisis to stay together, strengthen their
bond and transition into independency. Services rendered consist of counseling
on parenting skills, career building, financial stability, and substance abuse.
Other services provided by the shelter are: education, permanent housing and
nursing care with local, state and federal assistance. ESGP provides for
assistance with payment of essential services for salary of a Case Manager and
assistance with basic operations expenses.
