Society of St. Vincent De Paul - (Day/Night Shelter) is a new multi-purpose
facility for the homeless. The facility is a day center and homeless night
shelter for men. The shelter’s day center works diligently at preventing repeat
cases of homelessness by offering living skills and educational courses through
funding by the Emergency Shelter Grants Program. These courses are a way to
motivate individuals to become independent and productive members of the
community. Services of the day facility include, but are not limited to, a full
needs assessment by counseling staff, counseling services, a referral service, a
living skills program, job counseling and assistance, shower facilities, laundry
facilities, clothing, transportation, medical prescriptions, personal hygiene
items, and other needed services. The referral service acts as a homeless
clearing house of information for public and private agencies assisting the
homeless. The day shelter program operates from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. The
night shelter component plays the essential role in helping homeless men off the
streets. Services offered at the night shelter include, but are not limited to,
a needs assessment counseling (job and case work), living skills program,
clothing, personal hygiene items, medical prescriptions, transportation,
referral services, meals, shower and laundry facilities, all of which receive
funding assistance by the Emergency Shelter Grants Program.
