Baton Rouge Alliance for Transitional Living (Passages)

Baton Rouge Alliance for Transitional Living (Passages) Image

BRATL – Passages was established in 1996 through the collaboration of several organizations identifying that there’s a need for services to the homeless and runaway/throwaway youths. The program’s alliance generates a wide range of services from mental health and substance abuse counseling, to long-term foster care and vocational training. Homeless youths between the ages of 16-21 may live within this stable environment for a period up to 24 months. Other services provided by the project through funding by the Emergency Shelter Grants Program include budgeting, housekeeping, planning, and consumer education; obtaining vital documents, positive relationships, job preparations, interpersonal, parenting and emergency treatment skills, as well as other necessary life skills. Youths are provided a one bedroom apartment upon entry into the transitional living program. ESGP provides assistance with payment salary for a Case Assistant at the shelter.
