Since 1964, the Baton Rouge Area Foundation
has served the greater Baton Rouge area by pooling the financial resources of
generous philanthropists and awarding grants to area nonprofit organizations
that strengthen our community.
Through our partnership with affiliates, friends and
neighbors, we have grown to exceed $140 million in assets. But our social
capital the intangible value of partnerships built on trust created through the
accomplishment of shared goals is priceless. It's why we are called a
"community foundation." Without community, we would have no reason to
exist.
Permanent endowments at the Foundation allow our
donors, in partnership with us, to award grants to area nonprofits that submit
proposals in eight areas of interest: Arts & Humanities, Community
Development, Education, Environment, Human Services, Medical Health, Religion
and Scholarships. Last year, we awarded $7.9 million in grants for a range of
projects and programs, including Plan Baton Rouge, the Academic Distinction
Fund, Earl K. Long Hospital, Pennington Biomedical Research Center and the Local
Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) Baton Rouge. (Click Grants and Programs
