LIFTD/WCRC is a structured 24-hour, 7 days a week, reality-oriented
residential treatment program. It works with the extremely difficult and
challenging population, providing residential services, safe and secure in
purpose, normalizing and therapeutic, with a vocational focus. WCRC provides
psychosocial skills, self-care, independent living skills, vocational
adjustment, and innovative approaches to assist mentally ill women. Also, the
center assists clients in the transition from in-patient care and homelessness,
to enable them to live as independently as possible in the community. Other
opportunities rendered include job placement or referrals, on-site counseling
and off-site mentoring/monitoring, and steps to behavior modification. The aim
of this center is to reduce the frequency and length of episodes of in-patient
care and/or homelessness, to increase residents’ ability to stabilize within
their community, and to provide vocational training opportunities for residents
to learn employment skills values, health awareness, and money management
skills, thereby, enhancing their capacity for increased levels of employment
stability. ESGP assistance provides for assistance with payment of essential
services for counseling for residents and assistance with basic operations
expenses at the shelter facility.
