Volunteer of America - Drop-In Center

Volunteers of America – (Drop-In Center) shelters homeless individuals ages 18 and older with severe and persistent illnesses, some of which are dually diagnosed substances abusers, HIV clients, and handicapped/disabled. Services are offered at a minimum of 28-35 hours a week through funding from the Emergency Shelter Grants Program, providing a laundry and cleaning facility, access to local telephone calls and resource directory, refreshments, newspapers, address for mail-drops, and case coordination for those entitled to receiving benefits. Operation of this shelter is also funded under the ESGP. The center strives to provide a warm and comfortable atmosphere in order to empower the targeted population to become self-sufficient.
