Maison Des Ami of Louisiana
Maison Des Ami

Maison Des Ami of LA is a Supportive Housing Project staffed with Qualified Mental Health Professionals to assist homeless persons with a mental illness. The facility has been in operations since 1986 and provides transitional housing and services to chronically mentally ill homeless men and women who may have a co-occurring substance abuse problem. The facility provides a homelike atmosphere with 24 hour supervision, seven days a week. Supportive Housing Program funds provided for ten additional beds through renovations of the existing facility. Capacity has been expanded from 36 beds to 46 beds. SHP funds provide for supportive services and basic operations expenses. Supportive services include mental health counseling provided by Qualified Mental Health Professionals and case management services to assist clients with medication monitoring, assistance in transportation scheduling, completing vital forms and applying for benefits. Though grant funds were awarded under a three year subsidy of the 1999 SHP, it is presently operating.
