Catholic Community Services Joseph Homes project has two components or
structures funded under the Supportive Housing Program. Structure A (Joseph
Homes) provides services to homeless male ex-offenders recently released without
resources to help them to return to productive living. Structure B (Families
First) provides services to homeless two-parent families with children in order
to regain stability. SHP funds provide for supportive services, shelter and
basic operations expenses at the facility. Supportive services include:
outreach, alcohol and drug abuse treatment, relapse prevention counseling and
staff salaries. SHP also allows for utilities, equipment, travel, furnishings
and drug testing. During the residents stay at Joseph Homes, they may receive
guidance in establishing short-term and long-term goals. Follow-up services are
provided, which includes first months rent, ongoing counseling and utility
deposits to promote independence. Families First offers support to homeless
families through child care assistance, family oriented programs, parenting
skills and case management. Grant funds awarded under the 1998 SHP have been
expended, however, the project received a one year renewal funding under the
2002 SHP for the continued delivery of services.
