Mayor-President Melvin L. “Kip” Holden is proud to announce on behalf of the City of Baton Rouge, Parish of East Baton Rouge the implementation of a High School and College Student Internship Program. This cooperative initiative will allow high school and college students to contract with City-Parish departments to gain a working knowledge of our Civil Service System while providing area students with valuable work experience.

The contract Student Intern program is different from the classified Library Page position. For students interested in a Library Page job, please refer to the application and testing information for classified positions (when the position is open for application).

Eligibility Criteria

High School Students

The prospective candidate must be at least 16 years of age, enrolled in a secondary educational institute within East Baton Rouge Parish, considered a senior by the high school recommended by the schools counselor for the internship. Candidate must pass pre-employment drug screening and responsible for his or her own transportation.

College Students

The prospective candidate must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in a university or community college in the area. Candidate must pass pre-employment drug screening and responsible for his or her own transportation.

Only candidates whom meet the specified criteria and whose applications are complete will be forwarded to City-Parish Department Heads for consideration. There are limited positions and department heads will hire students that best meet departmental needs.
